Everyone was kind helpful and efficient
The quality of care was extremely poor. One night I was only administered 1 of my pain relief when I should have been administered it 3 times. I would buzz my alarm to request pain relief, for someone to come turn it off and be told I’m not a priority nurses are working their way round and wil coem to me when needed. I was waiting 2 hours for help. My cannula was leaking and I was dehydrated therefore left hours without hydration and my lips are soo damaged and blistered because of this.
Nurses seem to be extremely over worked and stressed therefore lack the quality needed.
We waited in a long corridor for 20 hours to see a doctor with NO communication from staff of how h long the wait.
We asked twice why the delay, answer busy.
They lost my file twice in a mountain of files on a table, I felt sorry for the nurses.
Finally saw doctor after 35hrs DISGUSTING.
Why not have ticket number so you new your position in the queue.
Referred to hospital for stroke/ detached retina by 111, lost sight in one eye. Had mri, ct, X-ray, ecg and bloods and told I had no stroke but at no time was my eye looked at. No explanation of the results just there was no stroke and told to speak to GP about ophthalmology referral, it was a Saturday and no GP service until Monday. Went to Moorfields accident and emergency who diagnosed a retinal artery occlusion. They explained everything at every stage. It’s scary to think the 111 service thinks you may have a detached retina, it was never checked at Queen’s, no explanation as to why they wouldn’t check and I was left scared to fend for myself.
Overall our experience was acceptable. Initially we had difficulty finding out where to go, poor signage, and who to speak to, again few signs to know who to ask for help, and there wasn’t much update on our situation and what to expect
Our view was that the system is not set up to deal with the quantity of people requiring help but the staff continued as best they could
Went to fracture clinic . Treated within 10 minutes and discharged
Too many nurses and doctors not communicating with each other
From the paramedics to the nursing stuff the experience was not pleasant at all and this is not the first time I have had these kind of experiences at Queens. One nurse told me to get off the bed and sit on the wheelchair I was puzzled as I needed assistance to do what she was asking me to do. This was shocking
No complaints here. Treated very well. Nurse Bruno great guy
Doctor was very pleased with my progress and answered all my questions completely
